Deer Lakes Middle School welcomes Ms. Erb
Please join us in welcoming Devon Erb to the Deer Lakes School District!
Miss Erb will be the Middle School’s new 7th grade Science teacher.
“I am excited to join the Deer Lakes School District because of the strong sense of community and the opportunities for growth and learning,” Miss Erb said. “The supportive environment and focus on student success really resonates with me. I have already felt so welcomed by the faculty at DLMS and am excited to build strong relationships with my students and their families.”
Miss Erb attended Pine-Richland High School and Millersville University where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry Education. She most recently worked at North Allegheny Intermediate High School where she taught Physics & Chemistry.
This will be her first year as a full-time teacher.
“I teach because I love to help people, especially kids,” Miss Erb said. “I really enjoy being in the classroom and building meaningful relationships with my students. Their curiosity motivates me to come to school and teach each day. I specifically enjoy teaching science because it is such a wide range of content. Students ask so many good questions and due to the range of sciences covered at DLMS, I can cover all aspects throughout the year.”
Miss Erb was inspired by several people to be a teacher, including her parents.
"Growing up, going to Bring Your Kid to Work Day was essentially just another day at school, but I loved being in that atmosphere," she said. "I always knew I wanted to teach but it wasn't until 10th grade when I realized what I wanted to teach. I absolutely loved my high school chemistry teacher and the way she taught the content really pulled me in to love science. I want to be able to do that for my students."
